Can I get a grant for double glazing?

Yes. However, in the past double glazing was covered under the Green Deal, but nowadays, you may be able to get help under the ECO Scheme

How can I get a grant for double glazing with the ECO Scheme?

The ECO Scheme does not specifically offer grants for double glazing, but homeowners are sometimes able to use some of the money they receive towards installing double-glazed windows. This is usually only for those who live in older properties with single glazing.

For homeowners in Scotland, it is worth checking whether you are eligible for a Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland (HEEPS) grant. This interest-free government loan provides low-income homeowners with up to £4,500 to install new double glazing windows. This loan is only available to those switching from single to double glazing, however, and not to replace current double glazing.

Get help paying for double glazing

If you can’t get a grant to help pay for your double glazing, there are a number of retailers who offer finance deals. Some are at zero interest which means you can, in theory, use the savings on your energy bills to cover the costs of the installation.

You should also look into subscribing to newsletters from double glazing companies. They often announce flash sales or upcoming discounts via emails so if there’s a saving to be made, be sure to know when and where.
